We all live in the same place, planet earth, and it’s ironic how in the same world there are so many differences between countries all around. And in this world there exists a subdivision: the first world and the third world.

In the first world we find better conditions for a living, some examples of countries that conform this "world" are: United States, Canada, Australia, England, Japan, South Korea, etc. While in the third world we can see that the majority of countries that conform it are poor and under developed, some countries that form part of this "world" are: Haiti, Venezuela, Cuba, India, Iran, Syria, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Colombia, etc.

People who live in these worlds are also different making reference to their personalities and culture. In the first world most of the people have: good jobs, economical stability, they can acquire and do anything they want, they can travel, they can eat everything they want, and plenty more things, (although there are exceptions in these first world countries). On the other hand, in many cases, people in under developed countries (third world) do not always have the same opportunities and have to work harder to reach their dreams.

Now, some people from the first world, especially younger ones, tend to suffer over situations that aren’t very important to consider, and complain about not having what they want. That means, many people are not grateful with what they have and want more and more. While people that live in third world countries, where there are more difficulties to obtain anything they want, don’t tend to suffer as much.

Some examples of ridiculous “first world problems”, according to Wynick, A (2016) are:

  • It's boiling hot outside but freezing in the air-conditioned office

  • My personal trainer took the week off so I have to work out alone

  • My wallet won't close because there's too much money in it

  • Earphones getting tangled up in your bag

  • The cleaner taking a day off

As we can notice these situations aren't even real nor important problems, as a difference to real problems such as: poverty, starvation, lack of basic services (water, electricty), child labor, lack of health care, and many more problems.

As a conclusion, I can say that we need to try to change our perspectives, and start caring about the real problmes that the world faces

because even though there is this division and difference between countries, we have to understand that its just one world and there should not even exist barriers, we should all collaborate on living in a better place, and stop being selfish, just taking care of ourselves.
